The film that marked the transition from Warhol’s early experimental works (SLEEP, EMPIRE) to Morrissey’s later, more commercially oriented narrative features, LONESOME COWBOYS is a largely improvised, over-the-top camp take on the Western. When a roving gang of buff cowboys show up in a small Western town, they are not well re- ceived by the locals.
