Stan Brakhage: Metaphors on Vision
book signing and screening w/ Thomas Beard and Marfa Book Co.
Stan Brakhage (1933 - 2003) was a prolific experimental filmmaker who used the endless possibilities of the cinematic form to explore universal themes of love, birth, death, and loss. He often worked directly with celluloid itself to create movies that were incredibly subjective and abstract, exploring the world through “an adventure of perception.” His landmark book Metaphors on Vision has been republished by Anthology Film Archives and Light Industry after being out of print for over 40 years. Copies will be available for sale before the screening
